My opinions on Artificial Intelligence

So, I bet this will be divisive, but I cannot STAND the overdependence we have on AI. AI as it exists now did NOT exist pre-2022. We were able to do so much without it, but now apparently nobody can think on their own without AI assistance.

Am I innocent here? No. I used ChatGPT to check out code I wrote in college when ChatGPT was new. I've used it to create bullet points of seminars (large data processing I can excuse). I've asked it about networking stuff. I did not know about just the extent of plagiarism and the ridiculous tax on the environment it has.

My stance on AI is a bit different than most AI haters, just because I feel it does have its applications. I think Artificial Intelligence should be used as a tool to do the things that are monotonous. Large amounts of data processing? Yes. Sorting large datasets? Yes! Replacing artists and programmers and entire jobs? NO! It is ethically wrong to continue training AI on stolen content with the whole goal of AI slop imagery and videos. My parents fall for the stupid Facebook and YouTube AI engagement slop all the time, and I sure don't have the heart to tell them otherwise.

But your robots.txt here and at the Seequa Preservation site allows AI crawlers! Oh I know, and I am not happy about it. I leveled with myself that I'd rather have AI pull information from me and my hours of research if someone asks Grok or ChatGPT about a Seequa Chameleon than it hallucinate some insane crap that then may be said to me like its matter of fact (this has happened). occasionally test to see if an AI agent is actually crediting me for what it knows, and 50/50 it says it got its info from me.

AI stealing jobs and being everywhere is ridiculous. No Microsoft, I don't want CoPilot making changes to my Word document. I don't want ChatGPT to access persistent storage on my computer. I switched from Google to Ecosia because I am so sick of AI summaries where I don't want them. I don't want to be sent to an AI agent on the phone when it can't resolve anything! Hell, I PAID someone to rebuild McJonesTech's website properly and they used CLAUDE for it. They left the damn chat log in my website's HTML files. I am STILL pissed about this. I haven't even removed all the AI slop out of the site yet because I am STILL finding examples of it leeching everywhere.

Don't even get me started on datacenters. There is NO REASON to be putting these giant datacenters in residential areas. The fact that a sentence I have to say, "The guy from Shark Tank shouldn't be able to build a 23-atomic-bombs-a-day equivelent datacenter in Utah", is even something that exists perplexes the hell out of me.
