Frequently Asked Questions

What can I contact you about?

Absolutely anything. Saw me at a show? Have questions about my projects? Want to pick my brain? Have ideas? Please let me know!

Do you accept hardware donations?

It honestly depends. There are things that I really want on my "want list", but I only have so much space. Please ask before sending anything my way.

My Want List (As of 02 June 2026)

  • Anything Seequa related: Marketing materials, machines, literally anything
  • Federal Data XAT (Seequa Chameleon XL or Tele-Video TVIXL)
  • Kaypro Robie
  • Osborne Variant 1
  • Osborne 3 (Encore)
  • Osborne 4 (Vixen)
  • Amust Executive
  • Findex
  • Magic Computer
  • Gavilan SC

Can I buy something off of you?

Depends on what it is! If there is something I expressed at a show or something as something I would be willing to part with, please mention that. No promises, but I do need to keep funding my stupidity somehow and selling my feet photos feels a little low.

Do you offer repair services?

Currently, I'm focused on my own projects and preservation work. However, I'm always happy to provide advice or point you in the right direction (or in the direction of someone smarter than me) for vintage computer issues.

Are you available for speaking engagements?

I'd love to share my passion for vintage computing! Contact me with details about your event, and we can discuss possibilities.

Can I talk to you at conventions?

Absolutely! If you see me at VCF or any other show, exhibiting or not, please don't hesitate to come up and say hi. If I am exhibiting, I do kindly ask that if I am engaged with someone else to wait until I am finished speaking with that person before making yourself known to me you're there. If I am exhibiting, my booth is specifically set up with placards so that people can get the jist of what I would be talking about from the card next to the computer (some people don't want to talk, and that's perfectly okay), but I am a fully available resource for questions and general conversation, so don't think just because I'm all cool and have a display I won't chat!

Response Time

I typically respond to emails within 2-3 business days, unless I am at a convention, then... Probably the first day off that convention. If your inquiry is urgent or time-sensitive, please mention that in your subject line.

Please include:

  • A clear subject line
  • Your name and how you found McJonesTech
  • Detailed information about your question or request
  • Photos if relevant

I look forward to hearing from you!
